As a personal trainer, I am asked on a regular basis for exercise tips on losing weight. To lose weight quickly and permanently, you need to do three things:

Build muscle. Building new muscle will speed your metabolic rate. Get involved in a resistance training program (even your own body weight provides resistance). This is by far the most essential element in your weight loss efforts. Building lean muscle means burning more calories. See workouts below.

Burn calories by starting a cardiovacular regimen. (Come on, you knew it was coming.) A few of my favorite cardio exercises are stair climbers, spinning classes, and jumping rope. Interval training is an excellent way to burn calories and raise your anaerobic threshold.

Be in a calorie deficit. You must consume fewer calories than your body burns on a daily basis. Make your calories count by incorporating lean proteins and complex carbs. Get great quick weight loss tips here.

Exercise Tips On Losing Weight

The best exercise to lose weight should include compound movements that target the larger muscle groups. These include your legs, glutes, back, and chest. Working these groups requires more energy, thereby burning more calories while building lean muscle.

Challenge yourself with exercises that are difficult enough to fatigue the muscles towards the end of the set. You should find it difficult but not impossible to complete the set.

Work at a cardio pace. Keep your heart rate elevated during the entire workout to maximize calorie expenditure. The harder you are willing to work, the faster your progress will be.

With these ideas in mind, perform each of the following workouts twice per week, for a total of 4 workouts per week. You don't want to spend all day working out, so make the best use of your time by following these guidelines. Your lean and fit new body awaits you. Go get it.

Body Weight Workout

Perform the following exercises back to back with little to no rest between sets.

Body Weight Squat 1 minute.
Push Up To Rotation 1 minute.
Bench Dip 1 minute.
Stationary Lunge 1 minute each leg.
Hop Over Squat 1 minute.
Close Grip Push Up 1 minute.
V-Up 1 minute.

Exercises To Lose Weight Quickly:
Cardio Workout

Perform the following exercises back to back with little to no rest between sets.

Squat Thrust 1 minute.
Hop Over Push Up 1 minute.
Box Jump 1 minute.
Stationary Lunge 1 minute each leg.
Mountain Climber 1 minute.
Push Up To Rotation 1 minute.
Dumbbell Jack Knife 1 minute.
