As a personal trainer, I help people get fit every day. Now it's your turn. What does being fit mean to you? For some, being fit might mean being able to get into a pair of skinny jeans or running a marathon, while for others it may mean just being able to ride a bicycle with the grandkids. Whatever your definition of fit may be, it likely includes the reduction of body fat and perhaps the addition of a little lean muscle. Sound good? Great. Let's find out how to get fit. Starting an exercise program can seem a little overwhelming, and even finding the motivation to exercise can be a challenge sometimes. Getting in shape requires eating right and exercising regularly, but there's a lot of inconsistent information out there.

Calories in vs. Calories out. You must burn more calories each day than you take in.
Getting Fit In Three Steps1. Follow an organized fitness training program. Don't worry. You don't need to train like Arnold Schwarzenegger. You just need to use some form of resistance to get those muscles working. Building or maintaining lean muscle will keep your metabolism running high all day long. Many calories are burned during the workout itself. More importantly, your body will burn additional calories for you at all other times of the day while sculpting your arms, legs, hips and thighs. Adding a little lean muscle will give you that toned and defined look. 2. Perform cardiovascular exercises on a regular basis. Besides keeping your heart and lungs fit, cardiovascular exercises burn calories. Any activity that elevates your heart rate can be considered cardio. We must burn as many calories as we can if we really want to get fit. 3. Adhere to a sound nutrition plan. The importance of nutrition cannot be overstated. You could workout 24 hours a day and still not make progress if your eating habits are not up to par. Choose the right foods at the right times and be in a calorie deficit. Learning to eat smart is the only permanent, long-term solution. Follow these 3 rules and you will be well on your way to a lean and fit body. Exercise your body and your mind.
